1. The flights are cheaper the more flexible the dates are
Besides the accommodation, a decisive factor when booking the holiday, is the airline tickets.
If the clients find a flight deal 20% cheaper if arriving a Monday and returning a Tuesday, that’s when we have the problem. What happens if the property is only available at fixed arrival/departure dates? The client will probably go looking for a property that interests them and that is available at that period.
2. Get away for a short break
Closing the flexibility of our calendars, we are closing the possibility of reservations to customers who have planned to spend a nice break away in couple or with family, lets say for example; 4 days on the beach, skiing in the mountains …
3. Special weekends
There may be customers who are looking for a romantic weekend, or who want to relax for some special occasion. If we do not have flexibility in our schedule we will lose the opportunity of getting these bookings.
4. Holidays in other seasons of the year
As we mentioned in a previous post, there are more holiday seasons than the high season. Perhaps these holidays do not consists of one or two full weeks, but periods of 5 to 8 days beginning on a Monday and ending on a Wednesday. That is why the calendars must be open for any kind of reservation, otherwise we will lose many opportunities.
“Because we never know when we can get a reservation, any time is right”
