June is the LGBTQIA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual) pride month. That includes events and celebrations around the world!
Unfortunately, the LGBTQIA+ community continues to suffer discrimination up to this day. In fact, according to Forbes, 37% of homosexuals experience discrimination when they go on vacation. In this article you can find the 20 most dangerous destinations for gay tourists.
Furthermore, if you are a host and prefer to welcome gay-friendly guests, it may not be so easy to receive bookings or have enough online visibility. The gay community still faces uncomfortable situations when it comes to finding and offering accommodation.
This is what happened to misterb&b founder, Matthieu Jost, who was treated unpleasantly on a trip to Barcelona. After this bitter situation, he founded the leading gay-friendly rental site misterb&b. Nowadays there are many holiday rental sites addressing this community.
Your.Rentals will contribute its two cents to make the search for both LGBTQIA+ hosts and guests easier with this article. We’ve compiled a list of the best LGBTQIA+, inclusive and gay-friendly rental sites to advertise your property on. If you are a guest looking for a gay-friendly accomodation, take note, this is your place too Additionally, our goal is also to give more visibility to some of these small LGBTQIA+ travel platforms, which we list below.
List of the top LGBTQIA+, gay-friendly rental sites
Gay Homestays
This LGBTQIA+ accommodation platform is based in the United Kingdom but it has expanded internationally, offering short-term rentals in more than a 100 countries. Its main advantage is that most of its LGBTQIA+ accommodations are located in urban sectors, close to welcoming and gay-friendly areas. Despite the popularity of their destinations, many of their gay-friendly vacation rentals are very cheap compared to some of its competitors.
misterb&b
It is the leader of the gay-friendly accomodation platforms. It counts more than 310,000 hosts in 135 countries. They collaborate with LGBTQIA+ organizations such as Outright Action International, GLAD and 4 other non-profit associations. By doing so, they help these associations to provide benefits for the gay community.

Hometogo gay tab
Hometogo is a well-known international holiday rental metasearch. It was founded in 2014 and it includes local rental sites and apps around the world, such as Wimdu. Hometogo is oficially a gay-friendly rental site since it comes with its own gay search tab. There you can also find gay travel inspiration, and a list of the most famous LGBTQIA+ welcoming destinations. Spoiler alert: some of them are New York, Toronto, Berlin or Sitges.
Ebab
This website was built in 1996, and claims to be the first gay-friendly rental site in the market. They stand out by their quality management, taking into account their hosts and guests wishes. The name stands for “Enjoy Bed and Breakfast” but you can list a single room there, apartments or a holiday home, of course all open to the LGBTQ+ community.
Airbnb Gay Friendly
Airbnb is considered a gay-friendly rental site although it doesn’t provide a LGBTQIA+ filter (yet) or a box check for gay friendly hosts. However, the number one vacation rental site worldwide has positioned itself many times as a supporter of LGBTQIA+ rights. For example, in 2015 a woman in Texas decided to kick out a gay couple of guests from her property after realising they were homosexual. Airbnb decided to delete that property listing from the platform after stating that they do not allow any type of discrimination.
Purple Roofs
This gay-friendly travel directory site has existed since 1999 and it’s based in California. It not only offers accommodation in holiday rentals, but also Bed & Breakfast and Hotels worldwide. Although most of its accommodations are located in America and Europe, they still welcome property listings from anywhere in the world.
Pink Vacation Rentals
Following with the colorful names, Pink Vacation Rentals is also a travel directory, but unlike Purple-Roofs it also offers rental cars, plane tickets, LGBTQIA+ travel packages and more. It was launched in 2009, but in 2018 they renewed the whole aspect of the website. They added multiple new features and changed the look.

There is some debate on whether there should be specialized sites for LGBTQIA+ couples or not, but for many gay travelers these options are very useful. These sites offer a safe and risk-free experience, and keep them from going through uncomfortable or dangerous situations.
At Your.Rentals we don’t accept any type of discrimination. We welcome guests, owners, colleagues and partners no matter what their color, sexual orientation, religion, gender or country of origin. Therefore, we are proud to defend and promote equality also in the vacation rental industry. Here’s to a happy Pride for everyone!
